Beautiful Guts - Dissecting a First Generation iPod Nano
I’ve recently stumble upon into possession of a damaged, non-functioning iPod Nano (Non-exclusive Service Announcement: be careful how you check your iPod when operating a urinal) that gave its substance to science. After cleaning and drying it, I incontrovertible to see what was inside. I never took things at a distance as a kid because a) I took good caution of things so they didn’t break apart, and b) if I couldn’t get it working again, I wouldn’t get a new one, so I didn’t jeopardize it. First time for everything!
So here’s my photo documentary take taking my iPod Nano apart. I compel ought to no great electrical skills so I didn’t inconvenience trying to fix it; I just wanted to see how it was put together and what was backwards.

To open, pry the two halves not including. There are clips all around the innards everted so don’t be afraid to use some strength. The port is a good place to start.
